Jeffrey Dinner’s art comes from a combination of his life’s passion. Born in Anguilla, Mississippi, Jeffrey grew up with the intimacy of a small town, where the rural culture dictated the flow of community. Jeffrey devoted his career to merging his curiosity for scientific understanding with the fulfillment of opening windows for students to biomedical science and forensics.
Retiring after 36 years of teaching, Jeffrey, albeit serendipitously, turned to art. Jeffrey’s art portray his breakdown of the essentials of his subjects, similar to the way that science defines the essentials of living things. His initial inspiration came from the artistic barn quilts that are icons across rural North Carolina.
He uses acrylics on wood canvas because of the strength he finds in solid surfaces. Each painting begins with a sketch on grid paper creating a geometric blueprint. With brush and pigment Jeffrey then brings form and substance to design.
